IBPS photo and signature size — the two files that decide your form

Two files decide whether your IBPS form goes through cleanly: a photo at 200 × 230 pixels (20–50 KB) and a signature at 140 × 60 pixels (10–20 KB). Everything else on that form is typing. These two are measurements — and this is where evenings get lost. You’ve filled in two addresses, three exam cities and four percentage calculations, and now the portal wants two files in exact sizes that nothing in your phone gallery matches.

  • Photograph: 200 × 230 pixels, 20 KB to 50 KB, JPG
  • Signature: 140 × 60 pixels, 10 KB to 20 KB

These aren’t numbers we made up. They’re from IBPS’s own scanning-and-uploading guidelines — Annexure III of the CRP notification, the same annexure used for PO, Clerk and RRB. Now look at the shape of that signature frame: wide and short, nothing like a photo. That shape is exactly why signatures prepared “by guess” fail banking forms so often.

The signature is the harder of the two

A photograph is forgiving — a face is a face, and almost any clear shot can be fitted into the frame. A signature is a strip. Sign in the middle of a full A4 sheet and crop loosely, and the actual signature becomes a tiny smudge floating in a 140 × 60 window. Shrink the whole sheet down to fit, and it turns fainter still.

Do it the way experienced applicants do. Take a small plain white sheet — half an A4 page is plenty. Sign at your natural size with a black or blue pen: the signature you actually use every day, not a decorated version invented for the form. Photograph just the signature area, straight from above, in good light, and then fit it into 140 × 60. Done right, it looks like your signature — bold, readable, filling the frame comfortably. And remember, IBPS matches this signature later in the process, so upload the version you can reproduce in the exam hall without thinking.

The photo: small details IBPS cares about

The photo asks less of you, but IBPS still cares about the details. Start with recent — this photograph travels with you, from the application through the admit process and beyond. Face the camera directly, keep your face well-lit and clearly visible, and stand against a plain, light background.

Then mind both ends of the size range. The 20 KB floor matters here as much as the 50 KB ceiling. A photo squeezed down to 9 KB “just to be safe” is not safe at all. Land somewhere near the middle of the range — it’s the boring strategy, and it’s the correct one.

Applying to IBPS RRB as well? Same preset family — the same 200 × 230 pixel frame and the same 20–50 KB window. So one careful original photo can serve both applications, once it’s sized correctly for each.

Getting both files done

The IBPS preset on this site already holds both sets of numbers — 200 × 230 and 20–50 KB for the photo, 140 × 60 and 10–20 KB for the signature. Upload, check, download. It all happens in your browser; your photo and signature are never sent to a server.

One last habit, and it applies to every banking cycle: before you submit, glance once at the photo and signature instructions in the current IBPS notification. These numbers stay stable for long stretches in banking recruitment — but “stable” is not “guaranteed”. The notification is the final authority. Always.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IBPS PO photo size?

200 × 230 pixels, with the file size between 20 KB and 50 KB, in JPG format. Same specification for IBPS Clerk and IBPS RRB — one annexure covers all three.

What is the IBPS signature size in pixels and KB?

The signature image is 140 × 60 pixels and must be between 10 KB and 20 KB. Picture a wide, short strip: fit your whole signature on a white background, and never crop it.

Why does my signature look faded after resizing?

Almost always, the photo you took of the signature was loose or dim to begin with. Sign boldly on a small plain sheet, photograph only the signature area in daylight, and resize that — the strokes stay dark and readable.

Is the IBPS RRB photo size the same?

Yes, exactly the same. IBPS RRB uses the same preset family: photograph 200 × 230 pixels, 20–50 KB, and signature 140 × 60 pixels, 10–20 KB.
