About the role

The Forward Deployed Engineering team is a new strategic initiative at Databricks. Deployment Strategists are embedded with strategic customers from the first sales call through to a production-ready solution: they own the 'why' and 'what' — deep discovery, value scoping, the PRD and the pilot's success criteria — while forward deployed engineers own the build. The role combines executive presence, product thinking, technical depth and a hands-on delivery mindset.

What you will do

Partner with Sales on deep discovery and map the customer's technical and organisational landscape
Quantify the business value of large problems and define pilot MVPs, success criteria and timelines
Author the PRD, prioritise the engineering backlog and manage scope
Lead the forward deployed build team through agile delivery and unblock issues
Shape solution architecture together with forward deployed engineers

Skills & eligibility

Executive presence and experience working with C-suite stakeholders
Deep product thinking with a hands-on delivery mindset
Experience defining data, integration, security and operational requirements
Background in product management, solutions or strategy for data/AI platforms
