About the role

Databricks' engineering teams build and operate a platform running millions of virtual machines and processing exabytes of data per day for thousands of enterprises. As a Senior Staff engineer you will have full ownership of the product or infrastructure direction in a major area, serve as a force multiplier on stability and reliability, mentor senior engineers, and lead high-impact company projects.

What you will do

Own the direction of a major product or infrastructure area, from development to scalable solutions
Deliver a highly scalable, available, fault-tolerant engine processing hundreds of TB of data daily
Debug low-level systems and optimise performance on large production clusters
Influence architecture and product roadmap, and lead complicated technical projects
Help prevent and investigate production issues at very large scale

Skills & eligibility

Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems
Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems experience
Experience operating large production clusters — performance, reliability, fault tolerance
Track record of leading complex, cross-team technical projects
Experience mentoring senior engineers
