WBJEE 2027
● 2027 — TO BE ANNOUNCED CONDUCTED BY WBJEEBLast updated — Oct 2026 · checked against the official West Bengal JEE Board (WBJEEB) notification
WBJEE is West Bengal's common entrance examination for undergraduate Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture courses in universities, Government colleges and self-financed institutes of the state. It is a one-day, offline OMR-based test: Paper-I (Mathematics) in the morning and Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry) in the afternoon. The 2026 exam was held on 24 May 2026 and that cycle's admission process is in its final stage; WBJEE-2027 has not been announced. The details below are from the official Information Bulletin WBJEE-2026.
WBJEE 2027 — Key Dates
The 2026 Bulletin prints the exam date but leaves the activity schedule to the Board's website — those rows say so instead of guessing.
| WBJEE-2027 notification / applications | To be announced |
|---|---|
| WBJEE-2027 examination | To be announced |
| Examination (previous cycle — closed) | 24 May 2026 (Sunday) — WBJEE-2026 |
| Application window (previous cycle) | Not printed in the Information Bulletin — notified on wbjeeb.nic.in |
| Admit card (previous cycle) | Download on the notified date — no calendar date is printed in the Bulletin |
| Result (previous cycle) | Rank Card only — the Board publishes no public rank/score list |
The Bulletin (§2.1) marks the exam date "tentative and may be changed in extraordinary circumstances"; 24 May 2026 is the date on which the 2026 exam was held.
WBJEE Eligibility
To appear (Bulletin §3.1) and for Engineering admission (§3.2.1).
To appear you must be an Indian citizen (or OCI, subject to the Competent Authority's approval), have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent before 2026 or be appearing in 2026, and be at least 17 years old as on 31 December 2026 (born on or before 31 December 2009). There is no upper age limit — except Marine Engineering, where it is 25 years as on 31 December 2026.
For Engineering/Technology admission: pass 10+2 in the subject combinations of the AICTE Approval Process Handbook (annexed to the Bulletin) with at least 45% marks (40% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the three subjects taken together, and pass English in 10+2 with at least 30% marks. Individual universities set higher criteria — for example Jadavpur University asks 60% in PCM taken together for General/EWS, and the University of Calcutta 60% in PCM.
- West Bengal domicile is compulsory for: any seat in a Government-aided Engg./Tech./Pharmacy college, 90% of general seats at Jadavpur University, B.Tech (Dairy Technology), Aliah University, and every reserved-category seat in any institute
- You count as a WB domicile if you have resided in West Bengal continuously for at least 10 years as on 31 Dec 2025 (Proforma A1/A2), or a parent is a permanent resident of West Bengal (Proforma 'b')
- TFW seats: only for WB-domicile students with family income below ₹2.50 lakhs a year — only the tuition fee is waived
- Up to 10% of seats in self-financed Engg. & Tech. colleges are filled through JEE Main ranks in the same counselling
WBJEE Exam Pattern
Every subject has three question categories — Category-1 (1 mark, single correct), Category-2 (2 marks, single correct) and Category-3 (2 marks, one or more correct).
| Paper / section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Paper-I — Mathematics, Category-1 | 50 | 50 |
| Paper-I — Mathematics, Category-2 | 15 | 30 |
| Paper-I — Mathematics, Category-3 | 10 | 20 |
| Paper-I total (Mathematics) | 75 | 100 |
| Paper-II — Physics (Cat-1: 30 · Cat-2: 5 · Cat-3: 5) | 40 | 50 |
| Paper-II — Chemistry (Cat-1: 30 · Cat-2: 5 · Cat-3: 5) | 40 | 50 |
| Grand total (both papers) | 155 | 200 |
Negative marking: Category-1 loses ¼ mark and Category-2 loses ½ mark for a wrong answer; Category-3 has no negative marking and gives proportionate marks for a partially correct answer with no wrong option. Both papers together produce the General Merit Rank (GMR); Paper-II alone gives the Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR); Paper-I alone gives no rank.

WBJEE Photo & Signature Size
Exactly as prescribed in §8.3 of the WBJEE-2026 Information Bulletin.
If the Board messages you about a discrepancy in the photograph or signature, correct it promptly — within a day; admit cards cannot be issued for unclear images. The free resizer below hits both KB bands.
How to Apply for WBJEE
Applications for 2027 are To be announced. The 2026 process (Bulletin §8) was:
- 1Apply online only at wbjeeb.nic.in — no printed form exists, and do not make a duplicate application. You need a valid mobile number and a unique email ID; all Board communication goes to these.
- 2Register: name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, gender, ID type and number, addresses, mobile and email, and create a password. These five details — name, parents' names, domicile and date of birth — can never be changed after submission, and must match your certificates exactly.
- 3Fill the application: domicile, category, PwD and TFW status, income category, religion, nationality and academic details, and choose your examination zones in order of preference.
- 4Upload the photograph (10–200 KB) and signature (4–30 KB), both JPG/JPEG, in one go.
- 5Pay the fee online (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI / QR Code) and download the Confirmation Page — the application is not complete until the Confirmation Page is generated.
Fee: General — male ₹500, female ₹400, third gender ₹300; SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/EWS/PwD/TFW — ₹400 / ₹300 / ₹200. PwD candidates can claim a further 40% concession by written application to the Chairman, WBJEEB, within the application deadline. The fee is not refundable under any circumstances.
Documents Required — With Sizes
Only the two application uploads carry prescribed file sizes in the Bulletin; no other document file sizes are prescribed.
- At application: photograph upload JPG/JPEG · 10–200 KB
- At application: signature upload JPG/JPEG · 4–30 KB
- At the exam centre: printed admit card, a copy of the same colour photograph you uploaded, and one original photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport / Voter card / 10th admit card / School ID)
- At counselling: confirmation page, admit card and rank card (originals), plus the certificates behind every claim — domicile (Proforma A1/A2/'b'), SC/ST, OBC-A/OBC-B (NCL, updated), EWS, PwD, TFW income certificate
WBJEE — Frequently Asked Questions
If I appear only in Paper-I (Mathematics) of WBJEE, will I get a rank?
No. The Bulletin (§2.2) states candidates appearing only in Paper-I are not eligible for any rank. Both papers together give GMR and PMR; Paper-II alone gives PMR only.
Is there negative marking in WBJEE?
Yes, in two of the three categories: Category-1 questions lose ¼ mark and Category-2 questions lose ½ mark for a wrong answer. Category-3 questions (one or more correct options) have no negative marking.
I am not a West Bengal domicile. Can I still take admission through WBJEE?
You can appear in the exam and take seats that do not require domicile — but West Bengal domicile is compulsory for any seat in a Government-aided college, for 90% of general seats at Jadavpur University, for B.Tech (Dairy Technology), for Aliah University, and for every reserved-category (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/PwD/TFW/EWS) seat in any institute (Bulletin §3.4).
What is the age limit for WBJEE?
You must be at least 17 years old as on 31 Dec 2026 (born on or before 31 Dec 2009). There is no upper age limit, except for Marine Engineering, where it is 25 years as on 31 Dec 2026.
What size photograph and signature should I upload for WBJEE?
A recent colour photograph of 10 to 200 KB and a signature of 4 to 30 KB, both in JPG/JPEG format, uploaded in one go. The Bulletin prescribes no pixel/cm dimensions and no background rule.
Can I correct my name or date of birth after submitting the WBJEE form?
No. Name, father's name, mother's name, domicile and date of birth cannot be changed under any circumstances after registration. Other details can be corrected only during the Board's specified correction period.
Will WBJEEB publish a merit list I can check publicly?
No. The Board does not publish any rank/score list for public release. Each candidate views and downloads their own Rank Card, which shows the GMR and/or PMR and the component scores in Paper-I and Paper-II.
Can I get an engineering seat in West Bengal with my JEE Main rank instead?
Yes, partly. Up to 10% of the approved seats in self-financed Engineering & Technology colleges in West Bengal are filled from JEE (Main) 2026 ranks through WBJEEB counselling, subject to the same eligibility criteria (Bulletin §5.8).
